DIA Accompanies Beijing Haidian Delegation to IPIM, Establishing a Beijing-Macao Digital Economy Cooperation Mechanism
To further strengthen Beijing-Macao cooperation and deepen synergies in the digital economy, the Macao Digital Innovation Association accompanied a Beijing Haidian District Government delegation — led by the Haidian Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office — to the Macao Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) on 15 April for exchanges and practical cooperation.
IPIM Administrative Committee member Lei Chao Sam received the delegation and gave a detailed briefing on Macao's policies, platform advantages and latest progress in developing the digital economy. He praised the Association for connecting Beijing and Macao with a profound sense of national commitment, and welcomed more Haidian high-tech enterprises to visit, invest in and cooperate with Macao, tapping into the vast potential of technology commercialisation, digital governance and cross-border expansion.
Chen Peng, Director of the Haidian District Government Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, spoke highly of the Beijing-Macao cross-border go-global platform built by the Association. She noted that Haidian is home to 24,000 technology enterprises and 37 universities including Peking University and Tsinghua University, with a robust innovation ecosystem, and expressed Haidian's readiness to work with Macao to bring more technology enterprises to international markets via the Macao platform.
Legislative Assembly member and DIA President Vong Ka Lon said the series of activities effectively built an efficient bridge between the governments and enterprises of Beijing and Macao, and that more quality technology projects will take root in Macao. The three sides agreed to establish a regular communication mechanism and to jointly develop demonstration cooperation projects in digital finance, artificial intelligence, biomedicine and other key areas — creating a new benchmark for Beijing-Macao digital economy cooperation and contributing Beijing-Macao wisdom and strength to the nation's digital economy development.
